The Role – Sales Manager

Your role will be evenly split between managing a team of 6 Business Development Managers (the team has a high staff retention rate) whilst also managing a small proportion of your own clients. The team covers the North of England with the main areas of focus being, Liverpool, Manchester, Leeds and Newcastle upon Tyne. The company’s client customer service is excellent which helps you run the team effectively. You will report to the Manchester officer every Monday, therefore it is preferable that you live within commuting distance of the office.

The role involves:

  • Motivating and managing the team
  • Training, developing and encouraging the team
  • Holding monthly meetings to ensure KPIs are being met
  • Taking over a successful and self-managing team
  • Selling into all industries such as SMEs, manufacturing company’s and retail businesses, but this list is no exhaustive
  • Responsible for maintaining and achieving monthly and yearly targets/budgets
  • National marketing campaigns give the products UK wide exposure
  • Autonomous role managing your own time and diary
  • Selling via face to face meetings
  • Supporting your team out in the field
  • Negotiating contracts with existing and new customers
  • Effectively use the CRM systems (Microsoft Dynamics)
  • Nurture your own accounts in order to maximise sales
  • Selling high quality branded products

Personal Skills –Sales Manager

Essential skills needed for the Sales Manager role are as follows:

The successful candidate must come from a sales background and must have experience managing a team of Field Sales Representatives for a minimum of 2 years. You must; Understand how to motivate and get the best out of people; Can identify areas of improvement in people; Can implement training in order to improve staff; Can be adaptable to different personalities; Experience generating new business; Experience managing a territory; Hungry, driven and believes in nothing less than 100%; An individual that has the ability to influence at all levels; Excellent communication, questioning and listening skills; Flexible in approach; Must be passionate, ooze energy & have enthusiasm coupled with a polished image.
