The Role – Logistics Manager

The responsibilities of the Logistics Manager will be as follows:

  • Using SAP ERP systems to efficiently carry out the role
  • Management and training of logistics functions
  • Local and operational and facilities management of the Southampton depot
  • Manage and implement efficient receipt, storage, stock management and dispatch of materials
  • Improve systems and operations to increase efficiency and reduce costs
  • Implement projects to improve service levels and reduce budget spends
  • Build the departmental budget
  • Propose and implement operational and logistical changes
  • Cost management of the logistics operations
  • Active management of plant shift schedules, network design, sourcing, inventory and transport management
  • Responsible for annual freight budgets
  • Monitor freight costs and trends
  • Implement and undertake performance reviews
  • Accountability for site safety and safe work practices
  • Overseeing a team of 6
  • Guiding your team on planning, transport, network design, warehouse management, supply chain, inventory management, IT and professional development

The Person – Logistics Manager

In terms of experience for this Logistics Manager role you must have:

  • Experience in SAP ERP systems
  • Demonstrable track record managing logistical and supply chain operations
  • An understanding of freight rates at a lane level and the factors that impact customer needs
  • Management and mentoring experience
  • Experience with multiple concurrent assignments
  • The ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines whilst ensuring quality control
  • Ability to problem solve and implement the necessary course of action
  • Attention to detail and the ability to deliver results
  • Excellent leadership skills with the ability to effectively motive and coach colleagues
  • Demonstrate advanced skills in various Microsoft programmes (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)
  • Passion, energy and the drive to succeed
